Golden Eagle Track Teams Have Solid Showing at the Bulldog Invitational
STARKVILLE, Miss. -- The Southern Miss men and women's outdoor track teams had a solid showing at the Bulldog Invitational, Saturday, with both teams finishing third.

The Lady Eagles scored 118.50 points, finishing third behind Indiana State with 152.50 and Mississippi State with 147 points.

The Lady Eagle performances were highlighted with first-place wins in the women’s 4x100 meter (47.82) relay, the 4x400 relay (3:52.50) and Kate Juedes finishing first in the javelin (128’).

Angela Johnson finished third in the 100 meters with a time of 12.26, while Prudence Reid finished second in the 200 meters with a time of 25.05. S’Dori Sims was second in the 400 meters with a time of 57.14. Alisha Edwards and Jessica Crump finished fifth and sixth, respectively, with times of 2:28.88 and 2:29.91. Karen Tankersley took four-place in the 1,500 meters with a time of 5:04.55 and Keri White finished second in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:33.18. Jocelyn Young was second in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 1:06.00.

In the field events, the Lady Eagles finished 2-3-4 in the high jump with Kate Juedes leading the way with a height of 5’7”, followed by Sabrina Norwood at 5’5” and Krista Miller at 5’5”, also. Dasha Wakefield was third in the pole vault with a height of 11’6.25”. Shannon Weaver was second in the long jump with a jump of 17’9” and Denise Wilson was third with a jump of 17’6.25”. Sims posted a mark of 37’1.75” in the triple jump and Wilson followed with a mark of 36’3”. Michelle Zorn threw the shot 38’11.75” for sixth-place.

The Golden Eagle performances were highlighted with first-place finishes in the 4x400 meter relay (3:19.41), Cedric Norman’s 6’9” height in the high jump and Conrad Chanove’s throw of 186’11” in the javelin. Southern Miss scored 81 points, finishing third behind Indiana State with 202 points and Mississippi State’s 161 points.

Marcus Polk finished fifth in the 100 meters with a time of 10.94, and followed with a third-place finish in the 200 meters at 21.50. Kenny Johnson posted a time of 48.88 in the 400 meters for fourth place. Steve Griffin ran a 55.89 in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles for second-place and Etan Funches was fifth with a time of 58.55.

Matt Fant had a height of 14’1.25” in the pole vault, tying for fourth-place. Norman finished fourth in the long jump with a jump of 23’1.25” and Polk was sixth with a jump of 22’5.25”. Norman posted a jump of 45’3.75” in the triple jump for second and Polk was third with a jump of 42’11.75”. Eric Lyon was sixth in the hammer with a toss of 147’10”.
