HOUSTON, Texas - The Southern Miss men's and women's indoor track and field teams finished seventh and ninth, respectively, at the 2008 Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championship in Houston, Texas, Saturday.
The men's team scored 38 points, led by senior Cornelius Duncan, who finished second in the 400 meters with a time of 48.59. He also finished sixth in the 200 meters with a time of 22.23. Rascive Grant recorded a time of 9.33 in the 60-meter dash, finishing eighth.
Vincent Tanui finished fifth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 14:58.55. The 4x400 meter relay finished seventh with a time of 3:23.12, while the distance medley relay ran a time of 12:36.20 to finish seventh as well.
Leonard McLeggon took third in the high jump with a jump of 6'4.25", after finishing fourth in the heptathlon with 4,804 points.
Ken Watson recorded a mark of 45'11.75" in the triple jump to finish seventh. Richardo Page and Aaron Ammons finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the shot with throws of 52'01" and 50'11.50".
On the women's side, Ashley May finished second in the long jump with a jump of 20'6.25" and fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 40'10.25", while Suesanna Williams recorded a mark of 45'3.75" in the shot, finishing sixth and finished sixth in the weight throw with a throw of 55'6.50".
Chastity Riggien finished fifth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.56, while Cheris Fletcher finished fifth in the 400 meters with a time of 56.41.
The 4x400-meter relay finished sixth with a time of 3:51.28, while the distance medley relay ran a time of 12:16.52 to finish eighth.
Tiffany Hubbard finished sixth in the high jump with a jump of 5'6', her best this season.
