Golden Eagles Stand Second After First Day In Conference USA Indoor Championship
Cedric Norman successfully defends high jump title
HOUSTON, Texas – Southern Miss men’s indoor team concluded the first day at the Conference USA indoor with in second place with 31 points, Marquette’s 32 points.
Cedric Norman, the defending C-USA high jump champion, posted the best finish of the day, winning the high jump competition with a height of 7’3”. Marvin Lucas took third place in the long jump competition with a jump of 24’5.75”, with teammates Cedric placing fifth and Cory Seals third, with jumps of 23’7.50” and 23’6”, respectively. Noah Bryant placed fifth in the weight throw with a throw of 50’0.75”. The men’s distance medley relay team posted an eighth-place finish with a time of 12:11.89.
Steve Griffin is in a solid second in the heptathlon with 2,857 points.
On the women’s side, Ashley Reyer scored the only point for the Lady Eagles, placing eighth in the pentathlon with 3,253 points. Dasha Wakefield just missed scoring, placing ninth in the pole vault with a height of 10’11.75”.
