HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss men's track athlete Leonard McLeggon (St. Catherine, Jamaica) finished second, Friday, in the heptathlon event at the LSU Indoor Meet in Baton Rouge, La.

McLeggon tallied 4854 points in the seven-event competition, including a first-place tie in the high jump with a jump of 6-5, which was good for 767 points.

The redshirt junior also finished second in both the shot put with a throw of 42-10.25 (671 points) and in the 60 hurdles with a time of 8.46 (869 points).

The competition also saw him earn a fourth place in the long jump (21-9.5 for 729 points), sixth place in the 1000-meter run (3:00.76 for 657 points), seventh place in the 60 meters (7.44 for 732 points) and ninth in the pole vault (10-9 for 429 points).

McLeggon finished behind Cory Roberts of Southeastern Louisiana, who tallied a 5075 total points over the seven events.
