Golden Eagle Tracksters Post Improved Marks
BATON ROUGE, La. -- The Southern Miss mens and womens indoor track teams competed in their second meet of the season at the LSU Bayou Bengal Invitational, Jan. 31, in the LSU Fieldhouse.
Both Golden Eagle teams posted improvements from the first meet of the season. Durran Dunn improved his time in the 200 meters with a time of 22.67. Shane Brandford improved with his time to 23.51. The 4x400-meter relay team lowered their time to 3:24.55.
In field events, Matt Fant posted a personal-best height in the pole vault at 151. Cedric Norman posted a jump of 4811.50 in the triple jump. Noah Bryant recorded a personal-best throw of 4511.75 in the shot put and Eric Lyon posted a throw of 4211.50.
The Lady Eagles showed improvements in several events as well. Jessica Crump posted a time of 59.51 in the 400 meters. Lydiah Chepkwony ran a time of 2:29.57 in the 800 meters and Alisha Edwards improved her time in the 800 meters with a time of 2:29.59. The 4v400-meter relay team posted an improved time of 4:05.20. Keri White ran a 5:31.29 in the one-mile run.
In field events, Denise Wilson improved her long jump performance with a jump of 179.50. Regina Ballinger recorded a height of 98 in the pole vault.
Both teams will compete in the Houston Invitational, Feb. 8.
