The Southern Miss men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed at the Houston Indoor Invitational over the weekend and posted solid performances.
Shareef placed first in the triple jump with a jump of 40'7.50", while Reyer finished third in the pentathlon, scoring 3,747 points. Liburd placed second in the long jump with the top collegiate performance with a jump of 20'2.25". She finished fifth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.53.
Duncan was the top collegiate in the 400-meter dash, finishing second overall with a time of 49.01.
Ashley May finished eighth in the long jump with a jump of 18'5". Tori Wells ran a time of 7.82 in the 60-meter dash. Karla Thurmond ran a time of 25.80 in the 200 meters, followed by May with a time of 26.45 and Terria Wheeler ran 27.16. Kirsten Richards posted a time of 1:00.10 in the 400 meters with Carmen Dennis running 1:00.32 and Jamaka Wall 1:00.79. Cheris Fletcher recorded a time of 2:25.87 and Kenika Weaver ran 2:35.01.
Suesanna Williams posted a mark of 50'2.75" in the shot with Rushae Collier had a throw of 33'4" and Dina Jean-Claude had a throw of 33'00.50". Williams recorded a mark of 42'11.75" in the weight throw and Collier threw 41'7.75".
The 4x400-meter relay team ran a time of 3:59.23.
Marvin Pinnock ran a time of 1:57.66 in the 800 meters, placing sixth overall, and Vincent Tanui finished seventh in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:27.15. Ahmed Abdelzaher finished sixth in the high jump with a jump of 6'7.50".
Rascive Grant ran a time of 6.95 in the 60-meter dash with Lyndon Modeste running a time of 7.22 and Jeremy Crowell a 7.38. Grant ran 22.39 in the 200 meters followed by Crowell with a time of 24.58 and Patrick Ransom 24.72. Cordell Kinn recorded a time of 50.25 in the 400 meters and Derrick Collins ran 55.55.
Leonard McLeggon scored 4,130 points in the heptathlon.
The 4x400-meter relay team placed sixth, posting a time of 3:20.76.
Southern Miss teams will compete in the LSU Twilight Invitational, Feb. 16.
