The Golden Eagle indoor track and field teams competed at the annual LSU Bayou Bengal Invitational on Friday evening, recording solid performances.
Aaliyah Shareef placed first in the triple jump with a jump of 40'10.50" and Cornelius Duncan placed first in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.36.
Tanika Liburd finished in a tie for fifth in the 60-meter dash and third in the long jump with a jump of 20'5". The women's 4x400-meter relay team finished second with a time of 4:01.31, while the men's 4x400-meter relay team posted a time of 3:21.21, finishing second.
Kirsten Richards ran a time of 1:00.67 in the 400-meter dash, placing seventh, while Jamaka Wall recorded a time of 1:00.81. Cheris Fletcher finished fifth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:27.75.
Ashley May finished sixth in the long jump with a jump of 18'10.50". Simona Costache was fifth in the triple jump with a jump of 39'1.25".
Marvin Pinnock ran a time of 1:57.62 in the 800 meters, finishing third. Rodney Gray recorded a time of 8.32 in the 60-meter hurdles. Ahmed Abdelzaher placed third in the high jump with a jump of 6'8.25".
Southern Miss competes in the Houston Invitational next weekend, Feb. 2-3.
