Frost Earns Named Conference USA Men's Tennis Player of the Month

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss men's tennis player Matt Frost earned his first Conference USA Tennis Athlete of the Month honor as he posted a stellar individual record.
Frost, Hertford, United Kingdom, compiled a 6-1 singles record in the month of September. He competed in the HEB Baylor Intercollegiate where he went 3-1 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the main draw before losing to semifinalist Marko Krickovic of Baylor. Frost posted straight-set wins over Bobourjon Kamiljanov (USTA) and Calo Gomez (Laredo CC), then pulled out a three-set match against Jarryd Chaplin of Tennessee. The sophomore went undefeated in the Southern Miss Invitational, posting wins over Rob Lee (Lamar) in straight sets. Frost downed David Zimmeran (UAB) in a three-setter before pulling out a three-set win against David Leitner of South Alabama. Frost teamed with Andrew Goodwin in doubles for a 2-1 record. The duo opened the HEB Baylor Intercollegiate with a win over Hunter Goertz/Coleman Wahlborg (Louisiana-Lafayette), 8-3, before losing to Abid Akbar/Marius Cristea (Idaho), 8-3. They won their only match played in doubles at the Southern Miss Invitational, an 8-4 win over Vinay Kamienei/Rui Silva (New Orleans).
This is Frost's first monthly honor and the first Southern Miss player since 2007.
