Men's Tennis Travel to Mobile To Face South Alabama

– Southern Miss men’s tennis travel Mobile on Saturday to face South Alabama to break up a nine-match home stay.

After dropping the first match of the season, the Golden Eagles have won four straight matches at home. The home stretch was originally scheduled for eight consecutive matches but four were postponed due to rain.

Southern Miss travels to Mobile with a 4-1 record after Tuesday’s 6-1 win against Troy. In the last five years, South Alabama holds a 4-2 record against Southern Miss.

Scouting South Alabama: The Jaguars have also had its fair share of postponed or canceled matches and hold a 2-3 record. South Alabama also won 6-1 on Tuesday against Lamar University, one of Southern Miss’s postponed opponents.

The Jaguars’ other win comes against Xavier (La.) to open the spring season with a 6-1 score and now hold a 2-0 home record.

Golden Eagle Highlights: Mikhail Esipov and Wen-Po Tseng lead the Golden Eagles with a 3-0 record in singles play. Esipov has competed all three of his matches on court 6 while Tseng has competed and 2, 3 and 4 this year when he only played on court 1 last season.

Jorman Reyes is close behind with a 3-1 record where his only loss was in the first match of the season.

Tseng and doubles partner are 3-0 on court 2 but freshmen duo Tom Cecchetto and Mieszko Kwasniewski are 4-1 on court 3 and have two wins on courts 2 and 3.
