Men's Tennis Return To Action After Postponed Matches
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - After two postponed matches, Southern Miss men's tennis returns to action for two home matches against Lamar and Troy.
Sunday's match originally scheduled against Troy was postponed to Tuesday due to rain.
Scouting the Opponents:
Southern Miss hosts Lamar on Monday at 2 p.m. for its fifth match of the season. The Cardinals travel to Hattiesburg after winning its first match of the season against Jacksonville State a week ago after four straight losses to start the season. Sebastian Santibanez, Benny Schweizer and Arthur Serafim lead the Cardinals with two singles wins each. The Cardinals defeated Southern Miss last season 4-2 in Beaumont, Texas. Southern Miss will try and tie the series at three a piece on Monday.
Southern Miss hosts Troy on Tuesday at 12 p.m. for its second of three matches scheduled this week. Troy searches for its first win of the season in Hattiesburg after starting the season 0-3. In the last 10 seasons, Southern Miss holds a 3-2 advantage against the Trojans.
Troy and Lamar are scheduled to play each other on Monday at 9:30 a.m.
Highlighting Southern Miss:
Southern Miss returns to action after a week of not playing. The last match on Feb. 3, resulted in a 6-1 win against an undermanned Alabama State. Mikhail Esipov and Wen-Po Tseng lead the team with a perfect 2-0 record in singles play, while Tom Cecchetto and Mieszko Kwasniewski have earned three wins in doubles play.
