Mikhail Esipov Thrives At CCB Collegiate Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Mikhail Esipov advanced to the semifinals in the Houndstooth Draw after two wins on Friday at the CCB Collegiate Invitational.

Esipov earned his first win of the day against Pedro Uribe of Lipscomn in straight set fashion. A 6-0, 7-5 win set him up for a matchup against No. 1 seeded Tasei Miyamoto of ETSU. Esipov continued to be successful with a 6-1, 6-4 win.

Esipov is slated to play the No. 4 seed in Kenton Parton at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Chung Han Tsai fell to Gonzalez of UAB 6-2, 6-1 but came back and beat Andrew Rodgers of Tennessee 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. Tsai will play Andy Lau at 12:30. Wen-Po Tseng followed the same path by losing his first match 6-1, 6-4 against Wiedenmann of Tennessee 6-1, 6-4. Tseng was forced to three sets in his next match but came out on top with a win against Aleksandar Petrovic 6-4, 4-6, 7-5.

Teeradon Tortrakul played one match on Friday but fell to Adam Walton of Tennessee in a 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 match.

The Golden Eagles continue play at the CCB Collegiate Invitational on Saturday.
