Bisht and Tseng Excel at ITA Southern Regional

BATON ROUGE, LA. – After day two of competition at the ITA Southern Regional, both Wen-Po Tseng and Ronit Bisht of Southern Miss men’s tennis advanced to the Round of 32 in singles and doubles play.

Tseng defeated Diego Chavarria of SEC opponent Auburn in straight sets. Tseng defeated Chavarria 6-2, 6-2 and will play Luis Erlenbusch of Tulane tomorrow at 9 a.m.

Newcomer Bisht, has performed well for the Golden Eagles so far in his first season with Southern Miss. Bisht won his first tournament with the Golden Eagles two weekends ago at the Battle of the Bayou where he defeated his own teammate in the finals. Bisht defeated his opponent at ITA regionals in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.

Bisht will face Clement Marzol of South Alabama at 10 a.m. Friday morning. The Golden Eagles defeated the Jaguars at the Southern Miss Invitational 6-0 in singles play.

Tseng and doubles partner Chung Han Tsai also advanced to the Round of 32 in the doubles draw after an 8-4 win against a pair from Nicholls State. Tseng will face Erlenbusch for the second time of the day in the doubles draw at 5 p.m.

Bisht and doubles partner Daniel Merker are slated to play a doubles duo from Auburn at 5 p.m.
