Men's Tennis Falls to No. 56 Middle Tennessee 4-3

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss men's tennis fell to No. 56 Middle Tennessee 4-3 Friday afternoon at the USM Tennis Courts.
The Blue Raiders (13-6) took the doubles point when the Ettore Zito and Matthew Langley defeated Paulo Alvarado and Michael Elortegui 8-2 on court three followed by Christoph Lang and Ben Davis with an 8-2 win over Juan Escobar and Inaki Belloso on court two. MTSU's Marlon Brand and Yannick Born topped Matt Frost and Andrew Goodwin 8-7 (3) on court one in completing the sweep to give the MTSU a 1-0 lead in the match.
In singles, MTSU took wins at No.1, No. 4 and then clinching the match at No. 2. Southern Miss got points on courts 3, 5 and 6. Goodwin won his first set 6-2 and was on serve at 3-3 when Forrest Edwards retired. Alex Doleac took set on 7-5 and the score was 2-3 before Pippos retired.
Southern Miss will close out the regular season on April 15 when the Golden Eagles host Louisiana-Lafayette at 1 p.m.
