LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Southern Miss men's tennis team dropped its second match of the day when New Mexico State defeated the Golden Eagles 4-1.

"The team played outstanding doubles to win the doubles point," said Head Coach Zubin Engineer. "Now we need to find a way in singles to execute better and stay on top of our games."

The Golden Eagles (3-2) earned the doubles point after Vasco Valverde and Chao-Yu Huang defeated Paul Denele and Naveen Manivannan 6-5 on court 2. Paulo Alvarado and Juan Escobar knocked off Strahinja Trecako and Charles Baron 6-5 at No. 3.

New Mexico State then took four of six singles matches in posting the win over the Golden Eagles.

Southern Miss will face UC Riverside on Sunday.
