Men's Golf Swings Back into Action at Bayou City Classic
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss Men's Golf swings back into action after a 19 day break for the 2017 Bayou City Classic hosted by Houston, Rice and Sam Houston State.
"Since our last event we have spent a lot of our preparation on short game," said Coach Jerry Weeks. "We have been focusing on tightening up our misses from 140 yards and in. Based on what our coaching staff has seen, our guys are coming along nicely."
The tournament, which is being played at the Golfcrest Country Club in Pearland, Texas, will feature 36 holes on Monday, Oct. 9 and 18 holes Tuesday, Oct. 10.
The field includes Rice, Houston, Sam Houston State, Abilene Christian, Arkansas State, Houston Baptist, Lamar, Lipscomb, Little Rock, Nebraska, SMU, Southern Miss, UT-Arlington, UTSA and Texas State.
For the opening round, the Golden Eagle will be paired with Rice, Abilene Christian and Nebraska on holes 10, 12, 13, 14 and 15 for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
