Men's Golf Heads to Louisiana for Jim Rivers Intercollegiate
Golden Eagles are looking to defend their tournament title.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss continues its fall season when it travels to Choudrant, La., for the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate, Monday and Tuesday at the par-72, 7,105-yard Squire Creek Country Club.
The Golden Eagles are the defending tournament champions, having shot a 10-under par 854, eight shots ahead of second-place Louisiana Tech.
Of the 14 teams in the tournament, seven were ranked in the top 100 of Golfweek.com's 2012 final rankings, including No. 70 Southeastern Louisiana, No. 73 Louisiana Tech, No. 78 Central Arkansas, No. 89 Nevada, No. 91 Sam Houston State, No. 96 Jacksonville State and No. 98 Texas State. Southern Miss will also be joined in the tournament by Houston Baptist, McNeese State, Missouri-Kansas City, New Orleans, Nicholls State and Rice.
Southern Miss is coming off a ninth-place finish at the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate. Junior Kevin Brady leads the Golden Eagles with a stroke average of 72.17. Sophomore Casey Fernandez is averaging 73.67 and junior Zach Estep is posting 74.50 strokes.
The tournament begins Monday with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. The teams will play 36 holes on Monday, followed by the final 18 on Tuesday.
