Golden Eagle Golfers Travel to Shoal Creek Intercollegiate

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss continues its fall season when it travels to Birmingham, Ala., for the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate, Monday and Tuesday at the par-72, 7,234-yard Shoal Creek Country Club.
Of the 11 teams in the tournament, six were ranked in the top 45 of Golfweek.com's 2012 final rankings, including No. 13 North Florida, No. 25 LSU, No. 31 North Texas, No. 36 UAB, No. 40 Memphis, and No. 43 Kennesaw State. No. 59 Tulsa and No. 70 Southeastern Louisiana were ranked in the top 70. Southern Miss will also be joined in the tournament by Dartmouth.
Southern Miss is coming off a seventh-place finish at the season-opening Sam Hall Intercollegiate. Junior Kevin Brady leads the Golden Eagles with a stroke average of 70.00. Sophomore Casey Fernandez is averaging 70.67 and junior Zach Estep is posting 72.00 strokes.
The tournament begins Monday with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. The teams will play 36 holes on Monday, followed by the final 18 on Tuesday.
