Men's Golf Releases 2014-15 Schedule

Aug. 15, 2014

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss men's golf coach Jerry Weeks announced the release of the Golden Eagles' 2014-15 schedule on Friday.

The Golden Eagles will begin their fall season when they host the 12th annual Sam H. Hall Intercollegiate at Hattiesburg Country Club on September 8-9. The field will play 36 holes on Monday, September 9, and the final 18 on Tuesday, September 10. Southern Miss is looking to win the team championship for just the second time and the first since 2004.

"We have a great schedule lined up this year," said Weeks. "We begin with our own event, the Sam Hall Intercollegiate. In the past, we've played four events in the fall. But this year, we will play five. It will give us a good opportunity to get the season going.

Southern Miss will then make its ninth straight appearance at the Memphis Intercollegiate, Sept. 15-16 and played at Colonial Country Club. Southern Miss then travels to Baton Rouge, La., for the David Toms Intercollegiate, Oct. 4-5. It will be it's first-ever appearance in the tournament and the first LSU-hosted tournament since 2005.

A month later, the Golden Eagles will return to the Jim Rivers Invitational for the eighth straight year and 10th time in the past 11 years. The Jim Rivers will be played in Ruston, La., at Squire Creek Country Club on Oct. 20-21. Last year, USM claimed the tournament title, the second time they won the tournament in the past three years.

A week later, Southern Miss closes out its fall competition at the Grove Intercollegiate in College Grove, Tenn. at The Grove Country Club, Oct. 26-28. It is the first year that Southern Miss will participate in the tournament.

The spring season begins with a stop at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate at Robert Trent Jones Crossings in Mobile, Ala., on Feb. 23-24. The Golden Eagles will be making their eighth consecutive appearance at the tournament.

Southern Miss then heads to Lafayette, La. for the Louisiana Classics at Oakbourne Country Club on Mar. 2-3 before participating in the Samford Intercollegiate, Mar. 9-10, at Hoover Country Club in Birmingham, Ala.

The Golden Eagles then travel to Little Rock, Ark., for the UALR/First Tee Collegiate Classic at Chenal Country Club on Mar. 30-31. It is the first time participating in the tournament since 2011 when they tied for second-place.

USM closes out the regular season with the Old Waverly Collegiate, Apr. 6-7 at Reunion Golf Club in Madison, Miss.

Postseason play begins on April 26-29 with the Conference USA Championships.
