Men's Golf Closes Regular Season at Reunion Intercollegiate
Play begins on Monday with 36 holes.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss men's golf team closes the regular season this week when it travels to Madison for the Reunion Intercollegiate. The tournament, which will be held Apr. 14-15, is hosted by Ole Miss and will be played at the Reunion Golf and Country Club.
Southern Miss will face some tough competition as eight of the 11 teams are ranked in the latest Golfstat Top 100, led by 10th-ranked Houston. Vanderbilt (15th), Mississippi State (56th), host Ole Miss (63rd), Southeastern Louisiana (65th), Austin Peay (79th), Louisiana-Lafayette (80th) and Central Arkansas (100th) are also ranked.
Also participating in the tournament are Jackson State and Western Kentucky.
Teeing off in the No. 1 position is senior Kevin Brady. The Brandon, Miss., native has a stroke average of 75.42 over 24 rounds.
Senior Trent Hillis is teeing off in the No. 2 position. The Poplar Bluff, Mo., native has a stroke average of 76.00 in 12 rounds. He is coming off a season-best tie for 28th-place at the Old Waverly Collegiate.
Junior Drew Kirby will tee off in the No. 3 position. The Baton Rouge, La., native is averaging 75.00 strokes.
Teeing off in the No. 4 position is junior Casey Fernandez. The McAlester, Okla., native has a stroke average of 75.62 on the season.
Sophomore Kevin Jorden will tee off in the No. 5 position. The Juno Beach, Fla., native leads the team with a stroke average of 74.71 strokes per round.
