Men's Golf Takes Part in Mason Rudolph Championship
Southern Miss tees off at 8:50 a.m.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss men's golf team travels to Franklin, Tenn., for the Mason Rudolph Championship. The tournament, which will be held Apr. 4-6, is hosted by Vanderbilt and will be played at the Vanderbilt Legends Club.
Southern Miss will face some tough competition as 10 of the 14 teams are ranked in the latest Golfstat Top 100, led by top-ranked Alabama. Florida (12th), host Vanderbilt (14th), Mercer (33rd), Kennesaw State (35th), Georgia Southern (48th), Middle Tennessee (56th), Louisville (59th), East Tennessee State (62nd) and the College of Charleston are also ranked.
Also participating in the tournament are Ball State, Rice and Western Kentucky.
Teeing off in the No. 1 position is senior Zach Estep. The Lawrenceville, Ga., native has a stroke average of 73.94 over 18 rounds.
Sophomore Kevin Jorden is teeing off in the No. 2 position. The Juno Beach, Fla., native has a stroke average of 74.67 in 18 rounds.
Junior Drew Kirby will tee off in the No. 3 position. The Baton Rouge, La., native is averaging 75.33 strokes.
Teeing off in the No. 4 position is senior Trent Hillis. The Poplar Bluff, Mo., native, who will be playing in just his third tournament of the year, has a stroke average of 78.17 on the season.
Senior Jared Smith will tee off in the No. 5 position. The Saucier, Miss., native is currently averaging 76.00 strokes per round.
