Men's Golf Travels to Dallas for the Bob Sitton Invitational
The Golden Eagles play 18 holes each over a three-day period in the 24-team field.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss men’s golf team returns to action Tuesday at the Bob Sitton Invitational. The tournament takes place at the par 72, 6,750-yard TPC Four Seasons in Dallas, Texas, home of the PGA Tour’s Byron Nelson Championship.
Junior Matt Codd (Red Deer, Alberta) looks to continue his strong play on the year after notching another Top 20 finish at the 2017 Louisiana Classics. Averaging 73.57 for the season, Codd also earned Top 20 finishes at the 2016 Steelwood Intercollegiate, 2016 Memphis Intercollegiate, and 2016 Jim Rivers Intercollegiate.
Rounding out the lineup is senior Ryan Argotsinger (Lee’s Summit, Mo.), sophomore Derick Kelting (Amarillo, Texas), freshmen Walker Kesterson (Hartsburg, Mo.) and Matt Lorenz (Gulf Shores, Ala.). Sophomore Willie Hammond (Southlake, Texas) will be playing as an individual.
The Golden Eagles look for a top finish amongst a 24-team field that includes Abilene Christian, Arkansas State, Central Arkansas, Eastern Kentucky, Green Bay, Houston Baptist, Idaho, Illinois State, Louisiana Tech, Lamar, Long Beach State, Missouri State, Northern Iowa, Northern Colorado, Nicholls State, Oral Roberts, Stephen F. Austin, St. John’s, TCU, Texas State, UT Arlington, UTRGV, and WKU.
The Golden Eagles will begin round 1 paired with Houston Baptist and Nicholls State.
Long Beach State won the event in 2016 with a plus-15, 867. Oral Roberts sophomore, Cody Burrows, won the 2016 individual title with a one-over 214.
