Men's Golf Continues Spring Season at Louisiana Classics
The tournament begins with 36 holes on Monday.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss men's golf team returns to the links this week when it travels to Lafayette, La., for the Louisiana Classics. The tournament, which will be Mar. 10-11, is hosted by Louisiana-Lafayette and will be played at Oakbourne Country Club.
Southern Miss will be joined by host Louisiana-Lafayette, No. 9 Illinois, Illinois State, Kansas, Louisiana Tech, No. 33 LSU, No. 47 New Mexico State, Southeastern Louisiana, Texas State, Tulsa and UTSA in the 12 team field.
Teeing off in the No. 1 position is senior Kevin Brady. The Brandon, Miss., native has a stroke average of 74.93 over 15 rounds.
Junior Casey Fernandez is teeing off in the No. 2 position. The McAlester, Okla., native has a stroke average of 74.33 in 15 rounds.
Junior Drew Kirby will tee off in the No. 3 position. The Baton Rouge, La., native is averaging 74.58 strokes and had his first career top 20 finish at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate.
Teeing off in the No. 4 position is sophomore Kevin Jorden. The Juno Beach, Fla., native leads the team with a stroke average of 73.42. He also has a team-high five rounds of par or better.
Sophomore Tyler Peggs will tee off in the No. 5 position. The Germantown, Tenn., native is currently averaging 73.78 strokes per round.
Senior Jared Smith will participate in the tournament as an individual.
The teams will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday.
