Two Golden Eagles Finish in Top 30 at Tiger Invitational
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss men’s golfers Nathan Corchis and Matt Lorenz finished tied for 27th after three days of play at the Auburn hosted Tiger Invitational on the RTJ Grand National Lake Course in Opelika, Ala. The team finished 13th overall, tallying a 17-over 881.
Corchis and Lorenz both collected two-over 218 for duration of the tournament to mark their second and fourth top 30 finish of the season, individually. Lorenz fired a team best one-over 73 on the day and Corchis scored a four-over 76. Lorenz amassed 12 total birdies through the three rounds, the fifth most of any golfer. Corchis owned the fifth best tournament Par 4 average at 3.97 and collected the most birdies, 13, of any Southern Miss player.
Matt Codd claimed a three-over 75 today to collect an eight-over 224 total for the tournament. The Red Deer, Alberta product sank 38 pars on the Par 72, 7,149 yard course, the third most of any player in the field. Codd finished tied for 56th.
Derick Kelting and Brian Richards rounded out the squad with a two-over 74 and a nine-over 81, respectively. Kelting’s 12-over 228 put him in a four way tie for 70th and Richards totaled a 17-over 223 for 80th.
The Golden Eagles will next head to Texas for UTSA’s Lone Star Invitational March 19-20 at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club in San Antonio, Texas.
