Men's Golf Opens Spring Season Monday at Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate
The team plays a 54-hole event over two days.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss men’s golf team opens its spring season in the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate Monday and Tuesday at Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course in Mobile, Ala.
The event features 36 holes of continuous play on Monday at the par 71, 7,158-yard course beginning with an 8 a.m. with a shotgun start, while the tournament ends with 18 more holes, Tuesday. The final day’s action also starts with an 8 a.m., shotgun start.
The 15-team field includes Abilene Christian, Alcorn State, Chattanooga, Cincinnati, Georgia State, Illinois State, Kansas State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisville, Mississippi State, host South Alabama, Texas State, West Virginia and WKU, along with the Golden Eagles.
Southern Miss looks to improve on a 10th-place finish a season ago, in which they shot a 54-hole 879 total.
Of the five fall tournaments for the Golden Eagles, coach Jerry Weeks’ squad finished in the Top 5 on three different occasions with its best showing of second place in its Sam Hall Intercollegiate.
