Kesterson Finishes Three-Under at Quail Valley Collegiate
This is the sophomore’s second under par tournament total on the season and the third of his career.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss golfer Walker Kesterson fired a 71 in his final round at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational to finish three-under for the event and completing his second under par tournament total on the season and the third of his career.
Kesterson finished in a four-way tie for 33rd after shooting 38 pars, eight birdies and one eagle over the three rounds at the Quail Valley Golf Club. His final round included four birdies, holing three on the back nine. Kesterson also shot a team best two-under on the final nine holes.
Freshman Brian Richards shot a combined one-over at the event, tying his career best, and tied for 50th. He tallied two birdies in the final round and now has six career par or better rounds after today’s even-par round of 72.
Sophomore Matt Lorenz finished at three-over for the event after shooting a three-over 74 this afternoon and tied for 55th with junior Derick Kelting. Kelting scored his second round of par or better on the tournament with a 72 in the final round. He now has five round of par or better on the year.
Redshirt junior Nathan Corchis finished tied for 69th after finishing with a 10-over 226 total.
The team shot a two-over 866 total for the tournament, the second best total score of the season to finished 15th.
The Golden Eagles return to action Oct. 28 through 29 at the Steelwood Country Club for the South Alabama hosted Steelwood Intercollegiate.
