Kesterson Two-Under Through 36 Holes
He’ll begin tomorrow in an eight way tie for 30th.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss sophomore Walker Kesterson leads the Golden Eagles after shooting a two-under 142 through the first two rounds of the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational.
The Hartsburg, Mo. native fired an even-par 72 in the first round and a two-under 70 in the second. He holed four birdies and one Eagle on the day. Kesterson’s 27 total pars are the second most of the 75 man field. In tomorrow’s final round from the Quail Valley Golf Club, Kesterson will be paired with Nebraska’s and Cincinnati’s top golfers. He’ll begin tomorrow in an eight way tie for 30th.
Tied for 48th, Sophomore Matt Lorenz and freshman Brian Richards come next on the leaderboard. Lorenz followed his first round two-over 74 with a one-over 71. He also totaled six birdies on the day. Lorenz and Richards sit at one-over for the tournament. Richards shot a one-under 71 in the first 18 that included six birdies and a two-over 74 with three birdies in the second round.
Junior Derick Kelting shot eight birdies and had an even-par round to bring his tournament total to three-over 147. He is tied for 57th overall.
Redshirt junior Nathan Corchis gathered a four-over 148, including an even par 72 in the second round, over the day’s 36 holes and is tied for 59th.
