Men's Golfers Tied for Eighth after First Round of Lone Star Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss men's golf team is tied for eighth-place after one round of play at the Lone Star Invitational, being played at the par-72, 6,931-yard Hill Country Golf Club.
The Golden Eagles shot a 298 to sit 10-over par, tied with Houston and one shot back of Arizona.
Sophomore Casey Fernandez is tied for 11th-place after firing an even-par 72. It is his team-high fifth round of par or better this year and the 11th of his career.
Junior Kevin Brady and freshman Tyler Peggs are tied for 24th-place after carding two-over par 74's. Junior Zach Estep posted a six-over 78 to tie for 61st-place and freshman Jared Smith is tied for 71st-place after shooting an 81.
North Texas leads the team tournament at four-under par. Denver is in second-place at one-under par and host UT-San Antonio is two-over par in third.
North Texas' Rodolfo Cazaubon leads the individual competition at four-under par. Central Arkansas' Pep Angles and Carlos Ortiz of North Texas are tied for second-place at three-under par.
