Choudrant, La. - The Southern Miss men's golf team finished in second-place at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate, played at the par-72, 7,105-yard Squire Creek Country Club.
The Golden Eagles shot a final round 295 to finish with a 54-hole score of 873, nine-over par and four shots behind tournament winner Central Arkansas.
Junior Zach Estep fired a final round 71 to tie for seventh-place at one-under par. His 54-hole score of 215 is a season-low. It is his third career top ten finish and he now has three rounds of par or better on the year and has 17 for his career.
Sophomore Kevin Brady finished in 10th-place at one-over par after carding a 75. It is his second top 10 finish of the season and the third of his career. Sophomore Casey Fernandez tied a career-best with an 11th-place finish. Fernandez shot a final round 73 to finish two-over par.
Freshman Tyler Peggs shot an 81 to tie for 40th-place. His 54-hole score of 228 is a career-best. Freshman Michael Perez, who played as an individual, shot a career-low 73 to tie for 46th-place at 15-over par. Sophomore Drew Kirby closed the scoring with a 76 to tie for 51st-place.
Louisiana Tech's Travis Wilmore won medalist honors, finishing 10-under par.
Southern Miss concludes its fall schedule in two weeks when it travels to San Antonio, Texas for the Lone Star Invitational, Oct. 14-16.
