Southern Miss Takes Ninth-Place at Shoal Creek Intercollegiate

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss men's golf team finished in ninth-place at the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate, Monday and Tuesday at the par-72, 7,234-yard Shoal Creek Country Club.
The Golden Eagles closed with a final round 298 to finish 45-over par
Sophomore Kevin Brady tied for 21st-place at seven-over par after posting a final round 77. The 72 was his third round of par or better on the year and 17th of his career.
Sophomores Casey Fernandez and Drew Kirby finished 14-over par, tied for 46th-place after posting rounds of 72. It is Fernandez' third round of par or better on the year and the ninth of his career, while it is Kirby's first career round of par or better. Junior Zach Estep tied for 49th-place at 15-over par, posting a 77, and junior Trent Hillis closed out the scoring at 26-over par with an 81 for 59th-place.
LSU won the team tournament at even par with a 54-hole score of 864, five shots ahead of second-place Houston.
North Texas' Rodolfo Cazaubon and LSU's Curtis Thompson and Stewart Jolly shared medalist honors at six-under par.
Southern Miss returns to the links next week when it travels to Ruston, La., for the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate, Oct. 1-2.
