Men's Golf Tied for Ninth-Place at Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic

South Bend, Ind. - The Southern Miss men's golf team is tied for ninth-place heading into the Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic. The tournament is hosted by Notre Dame and will be played at the par-71, 7,023-yard Warren Golf Course.

The Golden Eagles are 28-over par after shooting rounds of 299 and 297, tied with Xavier and one shot behind Eastern Michigan.

Junior Casey Fernandez is tied for 15th-place at two-over par, after firing rounds of 74 and 70. The 70 is his third round of par or better this year and the 16th of his career.

Senior Zach Estep is eight-over par, tied for 41st-place, after consecutive rounds of 75. Senior Jared Smith is tied for 53rd-place. He carded rounds of 75 and 77 to sit 10-over par.

Senior Kevin Brady is 11-over par after posting rounds 78 and 75 to sit in a 55th-place tie and sophomore Tyler Peggs shot rounds of 75 and 79 to tie for 64th-place at 12-over par.

Houston leads the team competition at three-under par, 10 shots ahead of Georgia Southern.

Yale's Will Davenport leads the individual competition at three-under par, one shot in front of the College of Charleston's Tim Mitchell, Georgia Southern's Will Evans and Blair Hamilton of Houston.
