Men's Golf Tied for Sixth-Place at Sam Hall Intercollegiate
Brady and Estep are in the top ten heading into the final round.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss men's golf team is tied for sixth-place after two rounds of the 10th annual Sam Hall Intercollegiate, played at Hattiesburg Country Club.
The Golden Eagles shot rounds of 282 and 290 to sit four-over par in a tie with South Alabama and Sam Houston State.
Sophomores Zach Estep and Kevin Brady each had career days as they both set career-best marks for low round and 36-hole score to sit in a tie for sixth-place at four-under par. Estep shot 73-65 for a 36-hole score of 138. His 65 is his first career round in the 60's. Brady, who is playing as an individual, went 70-68. The 68 is his third career round in the 60's.
Junior Kevin Brady is tied for eighth-place at two-under par. He tied his career-best round with a 68 in the first round, but followed it up with a 72. Junior Zach Estep is tied for 10th-place at one-under par, posting a 69-72. Sophomore Casey Fernandez opened with a 72 before tying his career-best low round of 70 in the second round to sit at even-par. His 36-hole score of 142 is also a new career-low.
Sophomore Drew Kirby is seven-over par, tied for 55th-place. He set career-low of low round (73) and 36-hole score (149). Juniors Trent Hillis and Jared Smith are tied for 68th-place at 10-over par. Hillis shot a 75-77, while Smith, playing in his first career match, shot 74-78. Freshmen Tyler Peggs and Michael Perez closed out the scoring for the Golden Eagles. Peggs (80-73) is 11-over par, tied for 73rd-place, while Perez (81-76) is in 83rd-place at 15-over par.
Ole Miss leads the tournament at three-under par with a 36-hole score of 565. Louisiana-Lafayette is in second at even par and Louisiana Tech and Mississippi State are two-over par to tie for third.
Louisiana Tech's Victor Lange leads the individual competition at seven-under par. Blake Morris of Ole Miss and South Alabama's Michael Garretson are tied for second at five-under par.
