Madison, Miss. - The Southern Miss men's golf team tied for seventh-place at the Reunion Intercollegiate. The tournament was hosted by Ole Miss and was played at the par-72, 7,305 Reunion Golf & Country Club.
The Golden Eagles shot 297-307 to finish 28-over par, tied with Central Arkansas and one shot back of Austin Peay.
Junior Drew Kirby shot 71-76 to earn the best finish of his career, tying for 12th-place at three-over par. It is his second career to 20 finish and the 71 is his fifth round of par or better this year and the sixth of his career.
Junior Casey Fernandez tied for 15th-place at five-over par after shooting rounds of 74 and 75. It is his second top 20 finish of the season and the sixth of his career. Seniors Trent Hillis and Kevin Brady tied for 41st-place at 10-over par. Hillis shot a 75-79 while Brady carded consecutive 77's. Sophomore Kevin Jorden posted rounds of 79-84 to tie for 66th-place.
Mississippi State won the tournament at 12-over par, four shots ahead of second-place Vanderbilt. Central Arkansas' Pep Angeles earned medalist honors at three-under par, three shots in front of Ole Miss' Blake Morris and James Ross of Houston.
Southern Miss closes the season April 27-29 at the Conference USA Championship in Texarkana, Ark.
