Franklin, Tenn. - The Southern Miss men's golf team finished in 11th-place at the Mason Rudolph Championship. The tournament was hosted by Vanderbilt and was being played at the par-71, 7,100 Vanderbilt Legends Club.
The Golden Eagles shot a final round 291 to finish 45-over par, two shots behind the College of Charleston.
Junior Drew Kirby tied for 34th-place at nine-over par after posting a 75. Senior Trent Hillis tied for 37th-place at 10-over par after carding a 74.
Sophomore Kevin Jorden shot a 79 to finish in a 55th-place tie at 16-over par. Senior Zach Estep finished 18-over par in a tie for 60th-place after firing a final round 69. It is his team-leading sixth round of par or better this year and the 28th of his career. Senior Jared Smith closed the scoring by posting a 73 to finish 23-over par in a 73rd-place tie.
Alabama won the tournament at five-under par, nine shots ahead of second-place Vanderbilt. Florida State's Jack Maguire finished 10-under par to earn medalist honors, seven shots ahead of Louisville's' Robin Sciot-Siegrist and Ben Fogler of Vanderbilt.
The Golden Eagles get right back to the links tomorrow when it travels to West Point, Miss., for the Old Waverly Collegiate. The teams will play 36-holes tomorrow and 18 on Tuesday.
