Madison, Miss. - The Southern Miss men's golf team is tied for sixth-place after two round of the BancorpSouth Intercollegiate, hosted by Ole Miss and played at the par 72, 7,305-yard Reunion Golf Country Club.
The Golden Eagles opened with a 298 and followed with a 292 to sit 14-over par.
Junior Kevin Brady is one-over par, tied for 13th-place. He opened with a 74 before firing a 71, his ninth round of par or better this year and the 23rd of his career. Junior Zach Estep is tied for 22nd-place at three-over par. He carded rounds of 76 and 71. His 71 is his sixth round of par or better this year and the 20th of his career.
Sophomore Casey Fernandez is seven-over par and tied for 40th-place. Fernandez opened with a 78 but followed with a 73. Junior Jared Smith is tied for 47th-place at eight-over par after posting rounds of 75 and 77. His 36-hole score of 152 tied a season-best.
Matt McKagen, who is playing in his first tournament of the year, is tied for 58th-place, 10-over par after rounds of 78 and 76. Freshman Michael Perez is 14-over par in 67th-place. He opened with a 73 but followed that up with an 85.
Mississippi State leads the tournament at 16-under par, 14 shots ahead of Southeastern Louisiana.
Central Arkansas' James Newton leads the individual tournament at 10-under par, four shots ahead of second-place Steven Fox of UT-Chattanooga and Joe Sakulpolphaisan of Mississippi State.
