Men's Golf in 11th-Place at Louisiana Classics
Tyler Peggs fires career-best 68.
Lafayette, La. - The Southern Miss men's golf team is in 11th-place heading into the final round of the Louisiana Classics. The tournament is hosted by Louisiana-Lafayette and is being played at the par-72, 6,898 Oakbourne Country Club.
The Golden Eagles are 22-over par after shooting a pair of 299's.
Sophomore Tyler Peggs is tied for 23rd-place at one-over par. He opened with a 77 before firing a career-best 68. It is his fourth round of par or better this year. Junior Drew Kirby is tied for 53rd-place at seven-over par after carding rounds of 74 and 77. Junior Casey Fernandez opened with rounds of 79 and 73 to sit in a tie for 58th-place at eight-over par.
Senior Kevin Brady is 11-over par in a 64th-place tie. He opened with a 74 before finishing the day with an 81. Sophomore Kevin Jorden is 12-over par in a 67th-place tie. He opened with a 74 before finishing the day with an 82. Senior Jared Smith, playing as an individual, is in 71st-place, 23-over par after shooting rounds of 81 and 86.
Illinois leads the tournament at 27-under par, 13 shots ahead of LSU. Illinois' Brian Campbell is nine-under par, leading the individual tournament, one shot in front of LSU's Curtis Thompson.
