Men's Golf in 13th-Place at Louisiana Classics

Lafayette, La. - The Southern Miss men's golf team is in 13th-place after two rounds of the 28th annual Louisiana Classics, played at the par-72, 6,898-yard Oakbourne Country Club.
The Golden Eagles shot rounds of 312 and 301 to sit in 37th-place.
Junior Zach Estep is tied for 38th-place at seven-over par to lead the Golden Eagles. He shot a 73 in the first round and a 78 in the second. Freshman Michael Perez is tied for 41st-place at eight-over par. He began the day with an 82, but came back to fire a career-best 70 in the second round. It is his first career round of par or better.
Sophomore Casey Fernandez is 11-over par, tied for 58th-place after shooting a 77 and 78. Junior Kevin Brady shot an 81 and 75 to sit in a tie for 65th-place at 12-over par. Junior Jared Smith is 17-over par and tied for 79th-place after shooting an 81 and 80. Junior Trent Hillis, playing as an individual, is in 82nd-place at 25-over par after rounds of 83 and 86.
Illinois leads the team competition at three-over par. Kansas is seven shots back in second-place.
LSU's Zach Wright leads the individual competition at six-under par. Louisiana-Lafayette's Brandt Garon and Chris Gilbert of Kansas are tied for second-place at three-under par.
The tournament concludes tomorrow with resumption of the second round at 8:30 a.m., followed by the final round. Fans can follow all the action live at GolfStat.com.
