Dec. 22, 2017

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- With the Walk-On's Independence Bowl against Florida State just five days away, takes a look back at five of the Golden Eagles' fondest moments in postseason play. This focus is on the 1988 Independence Bowl, where it might as well have been named the "James Henry Show."

The USM defensive back/punt returner scored two second-half touchdowns on punt returns of 65 and 45 yards. For his efforts, he took home both the offensive and defensive game MVP honors. USM's Shelton Gandy also turned in a solid performance, scoring two touchdowns and putting UTEP completely out of the game. For the Golden Eagles, it was only the second bowl win in school history, and the first since the 1981 Tangerine Bowl against Missouri.
