Boley Named Finalist For 2004 Cellular South Conerly Trophy
HATTIESBURG, Miss. ? Media voters from across Mississippi have named two standout offensive players and a nationally prominent linebacker as the finalists for the 2004 Cellular South Conerly Trophy which will be awarded Wednesday December 1, 2004 at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum in Jackson, Miss.
MICHAEL BOLEY: Southern Miss senior linebacker from Athens, Ala; national semifinalist for the Butkus Award which goes to the nation?s top linebacker and the Bednarik Award, which goes to the nation?s top defensive player and the Ronnie Lott award, which awards both on and off the field excellence. Boley leads Southern Miss and ranks third in Conference USA in tackles with 111 and ranks ninth nationally in both solo tackles (6.5/game) and total tackles (11.1/game).
"This is a great honor not only for me a but for Southern Miss," Boley said. "There are a lot of outstanding players in the state of Mississippi and to be named a finalist for this prestigious award is an honor. This honor also is a tribute to my defensive teammates who also have worked hard and have given a lot to our program."
SCOTT EYSTER: Delta State sophomore quarterback from Hammond, La; ranked second nationally in NCAA Division 2 total offense, producing 356 yards per game; ranked third nationally in passing efficiency throwing just 7 interceptions in 371 attempts; had the fourth and fifth best passing days of all Division II quarterbacks last season with 487 yards against Central Arkansas and 483 yards against Valdosta State; also a Conerly Trophy finalist in 2003.
JERIOUS NORWOOD: MSU junior running back from Brandon, MS; led team in rushing with 1,050 total yards, ranking third in the SEC in rushing and fifth in the conference in all-purpose yards; he ran for more than a hundred yards in five games this season, including 201 yards vs. UAB, the fourth best rushing day in MSU history.

The presentation will be telecast live statewide by Mississippi Public Broadcasting with Mississippi native Ron Franklin of ESPN hosting. The telecast will be from 7-8 p.m.
