Southern Miss Announces UTEP Game Week Activities

The Golden Eagles will wear special red, white and blue decals on their helmets this weekend.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss announced today their week of activities surrounding Saturday's home football finale when the Golden Eagles host Conference USA rival UTEP in a 7 p.m. kickoff at Roberts Stadium

Saturday's game will serve as Senior Day as 18 Golden Eagle seniors will play their final game in "The Rock." The day will also be Military Appreciation Day and all retired, reserved and active duty members of the military can purchase tickets for $5 by presenting a military I.D.

On Friday, the weekly football luncheon with coach Ellis Johnson begins at 11:30 and will include a buffet style lunch for $10 with selected players, assistant coaches all on-hand to give fans a preview of the game and answer questions. It is held inside the Trent Lott Center.

Friday Night at the Fountain begins at 7 p.m. with the pep rally to follow at 9 p.m.

Campus ramps up on Saturday when Junior Eagle Funland opens at 3 p.m. Fans will also want to get over to Roberts Stadium by 5 p.m. for the Eagle Walk, scheduled two hours before kickoff.

The Golden Eagles will also commemorate Military Appreciation Day by donning their traditional black helmets with patriotic themed decals, including a red, white and blue Southern Miss logo on the sides and stripe down the center.

During the break between the 1st and 2nd quarter, Nashville-based recording artist Cadie Calhoun will perform "God Bless America" to honor the armed forces.

Saturday's game is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff and will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network with James Bates, Aaron Taylor and Lauren Gardner calling the action. It can also be heard on the IMG Sports Network with John Cox and Vic Purvis.

Tickets for the game can be purchased either online via, by calling 1-800-844-TICK (8425) or visiting the Pat Ferlise Ticket Center from 8 a.m., until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The office will also be open from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday before moving to the Southwest Ticket Booth at the stadium at 4 p.m.
