Eagles Continue Practice for Marshall
The Golden Eagles and Thundering Herd are set to meet Saturday in Huntington, W.Va., at 11 a.m.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss football team continued preparations for its road game against Conference USA rival Marshall this weekend with practice Wednesday afternoon at the Joe P. Park Practice Facility.
Game time is set at 11 a.m., this Saturday at Joan C. Edwards Stadium in Huntington, W.Va. The game will be carried on the Southern Miss IMG Sports Network, including flagship station, Rock 104, 104.5 FM, in the Hattiesburg/Laurel area, as well as being televised on the CBS Sports Network (channel 735 on Comcast Cablevision in the Hattiesburg/Laurel area).
To get ready for Saturday's game, the Golden Eagles, who were in shorts and helmets on Tuesday, returned to full pads on Wednesday and worked through a two and a half hour practice session. The team continued to build on the things that they have already put in place this season.
"Yesterday was a lift day for us," head coach Todd Monken stated about changing the practice routine. "We had been going the opposite of that. We thought that with some install stuff and some teaching stuff that maybe it would help us more. We just thought we would change it up."
The contest marks the ninth meeting between the Southern Miss and Marshall. The Golden Eagles hold a 5-3 advantage over the Thundering Herd in the all-time series, including a 3-1 mark in Huntington. The two teams have played every season since 2005, when Marshall joined Conference USA.
