HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss returns to the confines of Roberts Stadium this weekend when they host Conference USA East Division rival UAB in a 6:30 p.m. kickoff on Carlisle-Faulkner Field.

The Golden Eagles got back to the practice field on Tuesday under the first chill of the season in the Hub City. It was a day of returns as multiple Golden Eagles returned from minor injuries to get valuable practice repetitions.

Most notably at quarterback, true freshman Anthony Alford split the first-team repetitions with redshirt sophomore Arsenio Favor who quarterbacked the Golden Eagles through last week's Rice contest and had season-high numbers for yardage (180) along with 65 yards on the ground.

Following the practice, coach Ellis Johnson addressed the quarterback rotation.

"(Offensive coordinator) Steve Buckley is trying to split the repetitions right down the middle," Johnson said. "I would say now that I feel comfortable with both of them playing on Saturday and it could come down to Thursday to name the starter."

Saturday's game is set for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff and will be broadcast on CSS (Ch. 25 SD and 400 HD on Comcast-Hattiesburg) with Mike Morgan, Chuck Oliver and Rachel Baribeau calling the action. It can also be heard on the IMG Sports Network with John Cox and Vic Purvis.
