HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss worked through their third day of practice this week, returning to the Joe P. Park Practice facility on Wednesday, in full pads as they prepare to take on No. 25 Boise State Saturday at Roberts Stadium.

The Broncos will be the third ranked opponent Southern Miss has faced this season, having also played Nebraska and Louisville.

Southern Miss head coach Ellis Johnson was not pleased with Tuesday's execution but said the team rebounded and put in a great day of practice.

"Yesterday was very (rough) with a lot of execution problems, coming from new plays and wrinkles," said Johnson. "Game plan type things, but today it was really good. There are still some things that have to be polished up but it was a good day."

Adding new elements to the game plan always require patience from both players and coaches and the first-year head coach said that his team has responded well to the new additions for Boise State.

"(The adjustments) have been good," Johnson added. "We've got some things that you do for any opponent - you put in a play or two or formation or something - a different pressure, lean on certain coverages and fronts and so forth. You don't want to jump out of your scheme, but there are a lot of things that have to be tuned up according to what the other team plays. We certainly need a good Thursday but we're in good shape."

Game time is set for 11 a.m., at Carlisle-Faulkner Field at Roberts Stadium. Tickets are available online at, over the phone at 1-800-844-TICK (8425) or in person at the Pat Ferlise Center Ticket Office weekdays from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
