The Wednesday afternoon practice in full pads went two and a half hours and the Golden Eagles continued their prep work for their talented foe in Troy, who enter the weekend with a 1-1 record. Southern Miss is off to its first 2-0 start since the 2009 campaign.
DL Derrick Dixon, RJr.
On his 2 ½ tackles for loss against Savannah State last week:
“I just focused in and I was ready to be on the field. I was trying to get more snaps and I executed and did my job.”
On what offensive challenges Troy presents this weekend:
“They have a very good quarterback and two really good running backs, so that will be a challenge for us. We feel like we will be ready for it.”
DL Darian Yancey, RSo.
On Troy’s offense:
“Troy wants to run the ball. They have a good quarterback, who is also going to throw it very well and looks to get (his passes) off quick. They have a very good offense.”
