HATTIESBURG, Miss. - With the 2012 season opener just on the horizon, the Southern Miss Athletic Department has announced a detailed list of themes and initiatives planned for Saturday's Conference USA opener against East Carolina.

Most notably, the game will kick off the 100 Years of Championships and Commencements as the Golden Eagles celebrate 100 years of Golden Eagle football. To further enhance the game atmosphere, the department is asking fans to coordinate their game day attire based on their seating location.

Fans located in the east side of the stadium (nearest to highway 49) are asked to don their best gold attire while fans on the west side should come prepared to black out their sections. For fans in the south endzone, Southern Miss looks for fans to wear white.

Saturday's game is also FTTT - Fill To The Top - day in Hattiesburg as proclaimed by the city council last week. The FTTT campaign is a special group ticket campaign led by community leaders over the past month than sold over 8,000 tickets to the home opener.

As part of the 100 years celebration, a different college from the University will be recognized and the College of Arts and Letters has that distinction on Saturday.

A pre-game flyover, new stadium graphics and recently installed televisions at the concession stands around The Rock will continue to improve the overall fan experience. While taking a break from the action, fans can also savor new menu items at the concession stands including Golden Eagle BBQ nachos, pulled pork sandwiches and corndogs. Additionally, a new Southern Miss hologram souvenir cup will be available.

All of these programs and more will make M.M. Roberts Stadium the place to be on Saturday as the Golden Eagles kick off the Ellis Johnson era at home against a C-USA East Division rival.
