HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss football team returned to the practice field here Tuesday afternoon as they continue to focus on their season-opening opponent, Texas State, this Saturday at Carlisle-Faulkner Field at Roberts Stadium.
The Golden Eagles worked for over 2 ½ hours in full pads at the Joe P. Park Practice Facility.
One of the key elements in preparation for an opponent is the regulars getting quality opposition from the scout team which helps give the squad a better idea of what they will be facing in that week's game.
First-year coach Todd Monken had nothing but praise for the Golden Eagle scout squad following practice.
"Our scout team really brought the energy," said Monken. "That was really important today. We talked about them embracing their role, and I thought they did great today."
Monken added that the Golden Eagles were good today, despite taking a couple of days off, but expected the squad to be sharper tomorrow as game day gets closer.
The Golden Eagles and Bobcats will kickoff at 6 p.m., this Saturday.
