HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss football team continued preparations for its season-opening game next week against Texas State with a shorter than usual practice Friday afternoon at the Joe P. Park Facility.
The Golden Eagles' workout lasted under two hours as they added to their game plan for Texas State next Saturday in a 6 p.m., contest at M.M. Roberts Stadium.
First-year coach Todd Monken said following practice that he sees improvement from his team since the start of fall practice back on Aug. 2, as they approach game week for the season opener.
Before heading to game week, Monken and his squad returns to work Saturday when they take to Carlisle-Faulkner Field to go through a mock game. This practice helps the Golden Eagles to simulate game-like situations with different scenarios that they may see when they face the Bobcats next week.
Following a day off on Sunday, Southern Miss heads back to the practice fields on Monday to begin its final push to get ready for the 2013 campaign.
Tickets for the season opener as well as the other remaining home games can be purchased by going online at SouthernMissTickets.com, or by calling 1-800-844-TICK (8425) as well as visiting the Pat Ferlise Ticket Office weekdays from 8 a.m., until 5 p.m.
