HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss Department of Athletics announced Friday that 7,500 tickets have been sold for its Fill To The Top Campaign, which was designed to sell out the upper deck of M.M. Roberts Stadium for the school's home football opening game against East Carolina on Sept. 15. The campaigns exceed the stated goal by 1,000 tickets.
The campaign began July 18 as athletics department staff and community leaders met to formulate 10 teams that were selected to travel throughout Mississippi selling tickets to groups, organizations and businesses. Each team included a team leader, an athletics department contact and community leaders. Tickets were purchased at a price of $10 for seats located on the upper decks on each side.
During the course of the campaign, teams had been given the task of selling 650 upper deck seats, with a minimum bundle of 10 per purchase, for an original goal of 6,500 tickets.
"Surpassing our goal by 1,000 with three weeks to go before our home opener is a tremendous accomplishment for the community leaders that have worked endlessly toward this campaign," said Athletics Director Jeff Hammond. "This is also a testament of our fan base whose passion for Golden Eagle athletics is second to no one."
The Southern Miss Athletics Ticket Office will also offer $10 upper deck seating to any fan wishing to purchase tickets for the East Carolina contest, with no limit on the quantity purchased at this price. Less than 500 tickets remain to be sold, and fans are encouraged to buy their tickets as soon as possible.
Fans can purchase their tickets online at SouthernMissTickets.com, by calling 1-800-844-TICK (8425) or visiting the Pat Ferlise Center from 8 a.m., until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Game time against the Pirates is set for 2:30 p.m.
