HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss will celebrate its past when they open a new chapter of their history here on Aug. 31, as the school will be hosting the reunion of the 2003 Conference USA championship squad during the football season opener against Texas State.
Game time is set for 6 p.m., at Carlisle-Faulkner Field at Roberts Stadium.
The school will honor a 2003 squad which finished 9-4 overall, including a perfect 8-0 C-USA record and a berth in the Liberty Bowl, around festivities along with the game.
That team, along with their children, will join the current Golden Eagles in Eagle Walk two hours prior to game time, as well as serve as honorary team captains for the contest.
A commemorative plaque will also be presented to the 2003 squad by director of athletics Bill McGillis.
