Head Coach Jay Hopson
On linebacker Darian Yancey...
"He's had a really good camp. He's been real solid assignment-wise, and he had a good scrimmage. He's a guy we are definitely counting on to make plays for us. He's a ballplayer. He comes to work every day. He's been a very, very consistent football player."
On Yancey and Elijah Parker...
"Both linebackers coming out and you're going to get an honest day's work out of them. Everybody has to be who you are at the end of the day. Those guys are leaders in their own way and they come out and execute at a high level. That's very important at football."
On the offense...
"Just had some lulls today. We started out okay and picked up a little bit at the end. We are going to have two-a-days tomorrow and come out with a good day."
Derek Nicholson, Assistant Coach (Defensive Line)
Position group as a whole...
"Everything with us is a process and a journey, no disappointments. There are some guys that are flashing and making plays, but the biggest deal with everybody is consistency. We still have to find that consistency as far as our play, our effort and our technique on a day in and day out basis. That's what I'm looking forward to so far and acting like pro, practicing like a pro, giving unbelievable effort each and every play, paying close attention to details, being very meticulous in our scheme and our technique."
Ito Smith, Running Back
On how his camp is going...
"I'm having a really good camp. Just going out there every day, focusing on little small things that I need to get better after and just trying to get better every day."
On if his approached changed following last season...
"No I'm sticking to the same stuff. I'm just trying to take care of my body for the most part. I know we have a long season, so I'm just taking care of my body and just being careful."
