The team worked out in full pads at the Joe P. Park Practice Facility in the morning.
Head coach Todd Monken stated that the team was improving after a sluggish start to the week. The Golden Eagles had a day off on Sunday following the team's first scrimmage Saturday evening. The Black and Gold practiced three times - twice on Monday and once on Tuesday - before heading into Wednesday's two-a-day. Following morning practice, Monken said he saw signs of improvement.
"I thought coming back from the scrimmage; Monday was sluggish; Tuesday was better; and Wednesday even better," Monken said. "It was better today. What I mean by better is more guys leading our team. More guys sprinting onto the field. More guys pulling guys with them. More guys with better attitude, energy and body language when they were tired. That was a lot better today. On both sides (of the ball), it was better. Not perfect by any means, but better."
In the evening, the team was scheduled for a light practice is shorts and helmets for 90 minutes, but did a walk through in shorts and t-shirts instead.
Although Monken was pleased with aspects of the first scrimmage, he is still looking for his team to take steps forward this weekend.
"The scrimmage was actually really good in terms of the effort and the physicalness and the energy," said Monken. "Silly football - turnovers and penalties. You've got to improve in that area, which we will. I think it has been better, but we will find out Saturday."
